Guide to Packaging Tape

Light Use – If you need to apply tape to polythene, non- recycled or pure Kraft outer paper packaging then there is the opportunity to potentially save money. You can go basic which is exactly what this tape is.

What needs to be made clear is that many of the cheaper tapes are not of the required quality to stick to recycled materials, which many outer papers of boxes are made of.

Packaging Supplies top tip: Try and monitor how much tape you are using, you could be applying more tape because of fear of securing your parcel or pack properly, this can be uneconomical. A change to a better grade could give you an immediate cost saving.

General Tape – Polypropylene

General tape is the product that is used in most Businesses due to it being able to be applied to most surfaces. This tape is only fractionally more expensive than the above solution. If this product is used in the correct manner it can result in using less tape and therefore result in a cost saving.

Heavy Use – Vinyl

This would be recommended when boxes are of a heavy quality. We like to class a heavy quality as a box required to carry a weight of about 15kg and above. The added advantage of this quality tape is that it has a much better and consistent performance over a wide temperature range, whether this is while the tape is being applied or when the packed product is being stored.
